John Mann MP has dismissed the call by the think tank ‘Reform’ to pay MPs who serve on a House of Commons select committee an extra £10,000 a year.
The Bassetlaw MP, who sits on the Treasury Select Committee, commented: “This is a full-moon policy which must have been dreamt up during the solar eclipse.”
“Paying MPs extra for turning up to select committee meetings is a barmy idea.”
“MPs are already paid a very good salary and need no extra pay incentives to do the job that they were elected to do.”
