Bassetlaw MP John Mann has said that the action the Pensions Regulator is having to take in regards of the BHS pension deficit proves that Philip Green is no longer fit to be a knight of the realm.
The Pension Regulator last night revealed it had started enforcement action against Philip Green after he had repeatedly failed in their view to make a credible offer to resolve the black hole in the BHS pension scheme.
John Mann MP said “When he appeared before Parliament Philip Green said he wanted to settle the pension deficit and now it’s become clear that he has no intention of doing the right thing.”
John Mann continued “A knighthood is one the ultimate honours a British citizen can receive but it comes with responsibilities, responsibilities it seems Philip Green has no intention of living up to.”
“From start to finish Philip Green has avoided taking any responsibility for his actions during his time running BHS. He was happy to take hundreds of millions for himself from BHS but now, it seems he’s unwilling to do the right thing by the BHS staff. He’s simply not worthy to be called a knight of the realm.”
