John Mann MP yesterday marched with an estimated 1,000 steelworkers, Nic Dakin MP and other supporters in protest at the proposed job losses at Tata Steel plant in Scunthorpe.
John Mann commented: “People in Bassetlaw will also be affected should the job cuts go ahead. David Cameron has betrayed this country – he should have come back from Brussels with a plan to save the steel industry.”
“Local people have sent a strong signal that the Government should immediately step in to save hundreds of jobs.”
“It would be a disaster if we became completely reliant on other countries for manufacturing. Instead of hanging workers out to dry, the Government should save the jobs and invest in high-quality apprenticeships and jobs.”
